Ecco - the Tides of Time for Sega CD

Reviews
Just like it's predecessor the second CD version of Ecco improves the Genesis
version by ages! And Sega used the real abilities of a Sega CD ROM with this game
even though there has apparently nothing changed in the game itself... But also this
time, there are some great addons which every Ecco fan should get to enjoy it.
Again, the music is in this game really sphercial and saved as seperated
Audio tracks on the CD. It also uses the Q-Sound technology again which really
improves it a lot! Also the quality of the music is, just like about the Genesis Ecco TOT,
a lot better than the music in the previous game. It's simply the atmosphere of the
music which really fits the underwater scene. In the previous game it was also good,
but in this game it simply fits it better :)
The second addition are the FMV videos. The videos tell the whole story of Ecco 1,
and they are said to be the best videos which ever officially appeared on the Sega
CD. They really look extremely good, everything is rendered there and looks close
to the graphics of Ecco Dotf. Well, almost :) The video is split up into different
chapters and can be found in several glyphs throughout the whole game. These are
also the videos which had later been reused for the PC version of Ecco the Dolphin.
They are a real hit in this game!
Well, apart from those improvements, there is actually nothing more added to the game.
No new levels or maybe some improved 3D stages from the Genesis version, the game
itself is just the same as the Genesis version.
Still I prefer this version because of the cool music tracks. Also
this one is a really rare item so call yourself lucky if you get it for an avarage price,
the bids on ebay shoot always really in the air :)
