Rowling comes another story about mystery and enchantment at Hogwart's School of Witchcraft and Wizardy, where nothing is as it seems. In this third book in the award-winning Harry Potter series, old friends Ron and Hermione reappear, as well as a host of new and intriguing characters.... Fans of this great series will not be disappointed with this fantastic audiobook. From the Publisher Running time: 11 hrs., 48 mins. For twelve long years, the dread fortress of Azkaban held an infamous prisoner named Sirius Black. Convicted of killing thirteen people with a single curse, he was said to be the heir apparent to the Dark Lord, Voldemort. Now he has escaped, leaving only two clues as to where he might be headed: Harry Potter’s defeat of You-Know-Who was Black’s downfall as well. And the Azkban guards heard Black muttering in his sleep, "He’s at Hogwarts...he’s at Hogwarts." Harry Potter isn’t safe, not even within the walls of his magical school, surrounded by his friends. Because on top of it all, there may well be a traitor in their midst. About the Author J.K. Rowling was a struggling single mother when she wrote the beginning of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, on scraps of paper at a local cafe. But her efforts soon paid off, as she received an unprecedented award from the Scottish Arts Council enabling her to finish the book. Since then, the debut novel has become an international phenomenon, garnering rave reviews and major awards, including the British Book Awards Chidren’s Book of the Year and the Smarties Prize. Ms. Rowling lives in Edinburgh with her daughter. Performer Bio: The New York Times hailed Jim Dale as "The Toast of Broadway" in his title role in the musical Barnum. He has a long list of credits on the stage and in film and was nominated for an Oscar for writing the lyrics for Georgy Girl. Reader Reviews Average Reader Review: Number of Reviews: 6 1. harry potter and the philosopher's stone Reviewer: henrietta from okotoks/alberta Date: 2/4/2001 6:41:43 PM This was a very intriguing book. It had me on the edge of my seat the whole time and all i could think of was what was going to happen next. I could not put this book down for the life of me and that resolved in me reading in the late hours of the night. I think J.K Rowling should keep writing more of these excellent novels, and I would recommend this series to anyone who enjoys fantasy books. 2. Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban Reviewer: Sara from Ontario (iwannabelovedbyyou@hotmail.com) Date: 1/31/2001 11:00:07 AM I was definately a prisoner of this book, I could not put it down! As great as the other books in the Harry Potter series have been, this one is by far the greatest. With so many more twists, turns and surprises, this story is a page turner for children and adults alike. You'll never guess who the "bad guy" in this story, you'll be guessing right up until the end, and you won't be dissapointed! 3. The Best Book! Reviewer: Megan from Prince George, B.C. Date: 9/22/2000 12:30:36 PM The Prisoner of Azkaban is the greatest! The best book of them all! So much adventure, so much intense reading! So many cliff-hangers that make you want to read, read, read! If you don't read this book you'll regret it! But don't forget to read the others! Now.....READ! 4. The Best Thing for a Road Trip! Reviewer: Toni Ross from Vernon, BC Date: 7/5/2000 11:29:23 PM This is a review and a tip for all those parents that are planning road trips this summer. We took this book with us on our most recent camping trip. The 5 hour drive disappeared and the only question we heard was "Turn the tape over!" The weather turned out to be not so great. Every time the rain started we would rush into the trailer and turn on the tape. A very rainy Sunday turned into one of our best days camping. The four of us were spread throughout the trailer listening to Jim Dale's every word. Definitely a hit with kids and parents! Don't leave home without one! 5. You'll enjoy this book. Reviewer: Sumeer Mann from Regina/Saskatchewan/Canada (mann.sumeer@sk.sympatico.ca) Date: 3/9/2000 5:22:29 PM This book like all of the other Harry Potter books is absolutely wonderful. I would tell anybody to read this book if they are looking for an awesome read. It makes me wish that there really was magic in this world. Nevertheless, this does not surpise me after reading the first two books. It had so many well thought out twists in the plot. J.K. Rowlings did an absolutely superb job in putting this together.
