After two weeks of cancelled hikes due to bad weather, I felt a strong need to get out. I enjoy hiking, it's just the getting up early that is hell for me. It takes a lot of motivation, and usually I can't find enough, unless I'm meeting someone else that is...then I can do it. So I went later in the day, even though I was up early, at 6:30, to call Tiff. I didn't catch the bus out until 10. So I'm lucky I'm a fast hiker, although for this hike I took my time a bit more. I still kept up my normal pace for hiking, but I took breaks whenever I felt like and sat and took in the view and breathed in the fresh air. Still not as fresh as Canadian air, but enough for now. It's very peaceful and relaxing, and happily now, sitting around for a little bit is comfortable with the warmer temperatures. It was up to 15 degrees or so, when I sat I was warm, but it wasn't hot enough yet to make hiking uncomfortable. I spend the entire day in my t-shirt.

There she is, viewed from the start. I'll hike up and over all those peaks, and more behind them.

This is a very rocky course with a lot of climbs and drops, but that makes the hike all that more interesting and fun. A nice change.

The valley below.

The mountains ahead.

The heavy snowfall knocked over a number of trees in Daejeon, and broke lots of branches. It looked like Gyeryongsan got hit just as badly.

There are more ropes along this course for climbing that any other course I've done, by at least twice. Here's a rail you NEED if you are walking down.

The valley below. I think Donghaksa is just in front of the far mountain.

Just a pretty scenic picture.

This was my view for my longest break. I sat and ate some kimbop, an apple and drank a lot of water. I thought a bout reading but enjoyed the view instead.

Most of the course was dry, but there were sections of very heavy mud, and a couple sections of snow, but nothing I needed my spikes for.

I love the "No Trail" signs. It's not enough just not having a sign pointing that way, which to me would mean that nothing is in that direction, or having a fence blocking the way, but they also feel that the need to tell people not to walk down the fenced off, unsigned area with a "No Trail" sign. I love it.

With the water levels rising from the melt, people are taking moments to enjoy and relax in the cool water. Rob and Terry told that in the summer, they are people resting and bathing in the water all around Gyeryongsan. This was my first sighting of such an event, near the end of my hike.

In front of one of Donghaksa's buildings. They were all croaking away very loudly. And everyone was stopping to look. There must have been a few dozen frogs in this small pool. In this picture, incase you don't notice it, the frog is dead centre, in the top right corner of the reflection.

There were some huge trees that got knocked over by the snow. This one looked almost on display next to the path.
