Christmas eve was a fun night, but it really didn't feel like Christmas. The lunch on Monday was much more Christmas like, but as I just said, we had a fun night. Beth joined me, Tom, Molly and Luke (Gee-no, Tom's uncle, Molly's cousin) and Leia (she didn't have an English name and I was told to had to make for her, and what better to go with Luke than Leia?) at the yoga studio for a small party. We had kim-bop (rice rolls), cake, beef jerky, "sexy pink" wine and vodka, and passed the evening talking and playing games.
A group picture. We sat on the floor as usual. Throughout the night the seating arrangement kept shift although I maintained my seat the entire time. I'm the only person who did, just a random game of musical pillows.

A more formal group picture. Molly, Beth and I in the front, and Luke and Leia in the back. They are married, and own the studio we were in. They spend a month building it themselves. It's quite nice, with a soft floor for yoga.

If you looked at the pictures from the Christmas lunch, you should should know what I'm doing. My attempt at snapping chopsticks with only my ass and a belt. I got two at once =) Very unnatural, but funny as hell, even if you are the one doing it. I never tried 3...I didn't want to hog all the chopsticks.

One thing Tom introduced to me was a more challenging version of paper, rock, scissors. You start toe to toe. When someone loses, the winner places their front foot behind their back foot, and the loser has to slide their front foot up to the person's feet. So the winner and loser can quickly switch roles.

Beth only seemed to take pictures when I was losing. I had the
bad luck to win 5 or 6 in a row, then loose the next one, so I lost all
of the distance I had just gained, and ended up the one in a
compromising position. Not a fun game to play verses a yoga
instructor who does the splits for fun. |
The wall had heating in it, that Luke and Leia had just installed. This is Beth warming herself up. We had 3 space heaters going, because of the continuing problem of no central heat, but it was still a little cool due to it being a big open space with lots of windows. Insulation in Korea doesn't seem that good.

For a large part of the night we played a game a lot like "zip, zap, zop." Which will only be familiar to the theatre people out there. Basically, a game where you have to keep a rhythm and maintain a pattern. When someone made a mistake in our game, they had to loose a piece of clothing (no were didn't go THAT far) or do something mildly embarrassing like talk with their ass. I won hands down, only making 2 mistakes in the 2 hours or so that we played. I lost one sock half way through and the second one near the end. I'd like to thank Dwayne for this victory. This picture was near the end of the game, when Tom had to unibite (eat in one bite) a piece of the cake, but as you can see, he couldn't. Being the skilled unibiter I am, I stepped up to the plate and showed Tom how to do it, and succeeded in not only unibiting, but swallowing a piece in record time. I would like to thank all of the encouragement over the years for this second victory of the night =) |
