Brean Down
|
Brean Down, the crag on the beach. Go with your friends, and amuse/impress
them by wobbling up some sandy horror. Not a place to push your grade. |
The Great Corner
E1 5a |
The grade says it all. Not hard as such, but ever so sandy. The obvious
100ft corner, continuously interesting, and not too strenuous. It would
be HVS if the rock didn't granulate in your hands. The optimistic should
take small friends, the pessimistic would be better off with the large,
non-camming variety. Both should have an ice-axe for the final ivy/sand
headwall, oh and a spare rope to rig up the belay.

Force Ten *
E4 6a |
Always watch out for trad routes at Brean; this is desperate for E4.
There are two runner placements low down, after that there are only a couple
of rusty pegs for comfort. Make the crux traverse and reach boldly (or
slap for your life) for the security of a huge jug. Suss out the top eight
feet and you then have 60ft of grass/sand bank to go. Don't fall off this
one!

E4 6a (F7a) |
Much easier than Force Ten, this is steep with positive holds. The
easiest 7a I have ever done, go and do it before it gets downgraded.
