Trym Valley
A lovely secluded valley about 10 minute from Churchill Hall. Generally
overlooked by most people who head off to the gorge. But to be honest they've
probably got a point. There are several cliffs, three of which are worth
considering.
Goram's Chair
|
This is a short (50ft) crag overlooking the main path about 300 yds
up from the last stone bridge. The front face of the right 'arm' of the
chair gives: |
Gorams crack *
HVS 5a |
A pleasant route up the face crack offering enjoyable crack climbing,
just a bit short.
OW (on-sight) |
|
The arete to the left gives The Conformist E5 6b which is short and
bold but offers some superb arete climbing.
OW (2nd with rests)
The face crack on the left hand overhanging face gives A38, a famous
and frankly bloody hard E5 6a/b, way harder than The Conformist, but much
safer. Fine if you can fingerlock!

Armistice Wall
|
Dubbed as Avon's equivalent to Malham. Bollocks. It is a very small
flat sheet of limestone with some bolts in. It's very overgrown and the
easiest route 'The Dynamism of a Dog on a Leash' at E3 6b has now vanished.
Don't bother.

The third major crag [name not currently known - JB] gives more
and longer routes, but they all looked a bit loose to me. Maybe some choss
enthusiast could give us some beta? |
