Dear friends:

The tragic September 11 attack in the US has shocked and deeply saddened people around the world. Never before have so many communities and organizations drawn together to show compassion to the suffering and to offer support to American nation. Many people risked their lives helping in the rescue efforts, many donated money and blood, and many gathered to pray and provide spiritual support … the reactions from around the world are heart-touching and admirable.

At this critical time, we, a group of Chinese-American professionals and artists, have initiated a community effort to organize an event to express our compassion for the victims, pay our tribute to the heroes and offer our support to American nation as a whole. This event will provide an opportunity for the local community to express and offer support in a caring environment and to promote unity through understanding, respect, and appreciation between different cultures. We would like to accomplish this goal through introducing Chinese and American arts and entertainment to our multi-cultural community and show the world the unity of different cultures - a seamless effort from our local communities.

The event, Show of Spirit will be held on Friday, Oct 26, 2001 6:00PM at UW Meany Theater. We have partnered in this effort with the NW Response: Red Cross Relief Fund sponsored by The Seattle Times, King 5 and Bank of America. All the donations received and funds generated from the event will go to this Red Cross Relief Fund.

We would like to invite all the local organizations and individuals who share the same vision and have the same will to join us in this meaningful and necessary event. Your sponsorship, donation and participation will greatly enhance the achievement of our goals.
