Plane of Growth Guide

The home of Tunare, the God of Nature. If you have good Tunare faction, you may walk freely and quest with the various NPC's here, otherwise you will be KOS in this zone. Leaving requires gate, evac, TL or TP capabilities.

Overview | Mobs & Loot | Named Treants | Quest NPC's

Keiz Dinzyar's Bard guide to pulling in the Plane of Growth, and Essence of Darkness PoG Guide, are both excellent guides and contain a wealth of information for pulling PoG, I highly recommended reading them both. However, I haven't been able to find a good concise guide with the kind of quick reference information I like to print out and refer to when we started raiding PoG.

I also discovered that the best map shows the wrong location for the forest spirits (stone bird). I've corrected the map and added what I believe to be the areas for the named wandering treants. This guide is a work in progress which I will continue to add to and refine as long as we continue raiding PoG.

PoG Overview

The entrance to PoG is at the top of a tower on an island roughly in the middle of the Wakening Lands at loc p500, n1050. The bridge and tower base are guarded by faun rogues that don't see through invis. Groups can buff and re-invis at the top without fear of aggro, but be very careful with your mouseclicks when near the tree, it's very easy to accidently click on the tree and zone into PoG unintentionally.

Like all the Planes you must be at least lvl 46 to enter the zone, I recommend 47+ prior to hunting in any plane, simply because you should expect to die when on a plane raid, and if you die enough times to lose your level you will not be able to recover your corpse until you have once again reached level 46.

Druid, Paladin, and Ranger followers of Tunare generally won't want to hunt here because there are very few drops that they can use and the faction hits will make it impossible for them to do the high level quests that originate here, as well as making it near impossible for a Druid or Ranger to complete their epic quest. However they can assist the raid in a supporting role by zoning in ahead of the raid to scout the entrance area for a Farstride Unicorn who can see invis and paths near the entrance portal, as well as performing other useful tasks during the raid such as scouting for named mobs, harmonizing thiflings, etc. without worrying about taking faction hits. They can also provide limited corpse dragging services, but only if remaining invisible and avoiding any mobs that can see thru invisibility, otherwise they will aggro mobs because of a 'feature' added during the Velious expansion whereas they will be considered to be 'aiding the enemy'.
The Faction hits for hunting here are:

ClericsofTunare North Felwithe, Paladin and Cleric Guilds
FaydarksChampions Kelethin Ranger Guild
ProtectersofGrowth Plane of Growth
ServantsofTunare Plane of Growth
SoldiersofTunare Kelethin Druid Guild

When ready to begin each member simply clicks on the Tree (mushroom?) to port into the plane. A Whorl of Energy (54) guards the portal, but can be easily avoided since it doesn't see invis. There is no point in killing it since it drops no loot and respawns in less than 5 minutes.

Move directly to the West wall to set up camp. When a KOS party member becomes visible, the Protectors of Growth (53 to 57) who have zone-wide aggro will head for camp. The PoG's usually spawn in pairs, but sometimes there will be only one. They cannot be mezzed, and will respawn 25 minutes after being killed. Make sure at least 1 person is timing the PoG spawn, and stop all pulls at least 2 minutes prior to their respawn time.

There is no 'Safe Spot' here, all areas have wandering mobs, completely clearing an area of all wanderers before moving camp is essential to keep from being overwhelmed when fighting the more difficult mobs east of the stream. Typical camp progression starts at the west wall, near the zone-in portal, then moves along the wall to the north clearing everything west of the stream.

The waterfall area is usually the first camp spot used for pulling the eastern area mobs. Here is where a Bard and a CoH capable Mage (level 55+) become essential for the pull group due to the wandering named treants (beware of Ail the Elder) and the adds that typically accompany the long pulls. Also note that east of the stream not only contains tougher mobs, but is also extremely mountainous terrain, as can be seen in this 3d rendering.

Once everything that can be pulled to the waterfall is cleared, raids typically move south along the stream to a more central location where they can tackle Treah Greenroot, or continue on and establish camp near the lake for pulling the thifling camps, and other mobs to the east.

Note: West of the stream is considered the 'easy' half, I've listed the mobs in the table below by where they are normally first encountered. Pathing is from west to east and many of these will also be found east of the stream. Pathing of the treants is very screwy, they often hug the wall and may suddenly 'appear' in your camp.

Important Notes! Treants and sometimes the PoG's will gate to their spawn point and begin to summon people from your raid group one at a time. If a treant gates, everyone needs to gate or camp out immediately! If a protector gates, casters can gate out if bound near the tree in Wakening Lands, everyone else needs to camp out immediately! Do not zone back or log-in for at least 5 minutes! If the protector is still injured when you return, you will be summoned since they aggro anything in the zone that's KoS and non-invis.
