Shades of Light - Raid Diary

Plane of Growth - 26 Apr 2002 Shades of Light eventually gathered to once again assualt Tunares' plane. The best laid plans ran afoul when we found ourselves without a guild enchanter to attend, some RL commitments caused a few people to be late, and some confusion that the raid was being cancelled because Wuoshi was up /boggle. We finally got underway a full 2 hours later than planned. We had some rough moments both at the start, and things slowly ground to a halt after we moved past the waterfall when one person got disoriented and lost, leading to an extended CR that ended up requiring 2 corpses to be summoned. But in between these times the mobs fell swiftly and we had 9 armor drops, six blue diamonds, a multitude of gems and spells: BST Helm. Rotted :( BRD Boots and Gloves. GRATS Galiel and Bark! MNK Boots and Headband. GRATS Taelon and Ekar! ROG Helm. Rotted :( SHM Gloves and Legs. GRATS Morbuff! WAR Gloves. GRATS Boogertoes! City of Mist - 25 Apr 2002 Shades of Light had to cancel part 1 of their PoG doubleheader since CoP decided to take down Tunare herself. After some discussion and a vote, Shades headed to CoM for some Black Reaver bashing in hopes of grabbing a few Epic Quest pieces. We demolished many Reavers as well as Lord Ghiosk and Lady Neh'Ashiir, our only casualties came from some freak elevator mishap that resulted in a 10k fall to death (ouch Sila), and Lyshatin being run over by some fools train to zone while he was LD. Two MOSS's dropped in addition to the quest pieces mentioned below.

General V`ghera - 19 Apr 2002 There was a large gathering of nearly 60 people in Bloody Kithicor Forest last night to take down General V`ghera for Bigkev and Tanlaen's Epics. Assisting the Shades of Light for this event were members from Dark Lords of Norrath, Fate's Sentinels, Guardian Alliance, Legends of the Phoenix, Night's Watch, Realm Powers, Spirits of Fire, The Warders of Tri Lith and Wild Hunt.

Plane of Growth - 4 Apr 2002 Shades of Light and friends from several guilds once again returned to the Plane of Growth. We began gathering on time, buffed and had 3 full groups at the tower ready to zone into PoG in about an hour. The zone was not yet fully populated from the GA raid the previous night, but we had our worst break-in ever. The confusion started before most of us had even zoned as we were told to GO, then WAIT, then after realizing that some already zoned, to GO again. Between the whorl, a couple of horses and the incoming PoG we lost 2 out of 3 clerics and a tank or two. We were lucky that there wasn't a pair of PoG's or we probably would have been wiped out. The rest of the night was fairly uneventful, we cleared southwest corner, moved to lake side and cleared a few more wanderers, then set up camp at the northeast side of the lake. The pace was good and I think everyone had fun killing the numerous feral amalgams, serene forest spirits, sylvan protectors, and a couple thifling sprites that Ekar pulled to us. The zone was pretty stingy for drops, but at least I got a couple nice pictures ;-)   Plane of Growth - 5 Apr 2002 We gathered again the following night to continue our assault on Plane of Growth. Some of us began gathering early, but as time wore on we realized that our leader Ekar and main cleric Morninglory would not be attending. Everyone started sending /tells to friends to try to arrange for another cleric or two so the raid wouldn't be cancelled. Odit was able to join us, and Sevenu would be our 3rd cleric but at the last minute was replaced by Svea. 4 groups were formed with 5 in each group and we were finally on our way, albeit about 2 hours late. With 4 groups but only 3 clerics we decided to limit our activities to the western half of the zone. Things went smoothly for the most part, at one point we had 4 groups but only 2 clerics and that was when we suffered our only death of the night. We ended the raid with 3 groups, the clerics did a fantastic job of keeping all of us alive and buffed with minimum downtime. Loot was outstanding even though non of the west side named mobs were up, with 5 armor drops, over 2 dozen high end gems and over 4kpp to add to the guild bank from plat and vendor loot.

Serene forest spirits are always level 60 and come in 2 flavors, Lime green ones can drop SHM armor. Lemon yellow ones can drop BRD armor. Plane of Growth - 28 Mar 2002 Shades of Light returned a 4th time to the Plane of Growth, this time with even more friends from several guilds. We began gathering on time, but over 90 minutes passed before all 4 groups were set, and at the tower ready to zone into PoG. The zone was not yet fully populated from the GA raid the previous night. We cleared the few mobs that were up and about in the southwest corner including a Farstride Unicorn, before moving and setting up camp at the northeast side of the lake. From here we pulled feral amalgams, serene forest spirits, spirit flux wolves, sylvan protectors, and from the southernmost thifling camp, the thiflings, and their guardian power. We avoided the Ancient Totem and his friends as well as Rumbleroot.

The whole camp aggroed me on the pull, here's 2 who decided to use me as a foot warmer. After they all went home, using harmony, we were able to single pull the guardian power, and the rest of the thifling camp he guarded. The tiny bear is lvl 61+, but dropped nothing. We got a few spell drops and a few blue diamonds, the only armor drops were: thifling sprite dropped Noctivagant Vambraces (SK) 19AC +7Sta +3svMagic +2svDis +30hp GRATS to Kraeggenzkull! serene forest spirit dropped Spirit Weaver's Breastplate (SHM)   37AC +3Dex +3Agi +3Sta +14Wis +50hp +60mana, Effect: Riotous Health GRATS to Ghazban! Plane of Growth - 21 Mar 2002 Shades of Light and friends returned to the Plane of Growth, although we gathered on time, we soon suffered a setback that would prevent us from entering the Plane as scheduled. The rogue fauns guarding the Tower in Wakening Lands aggroed our groups as we were prepping near the portal. They started hitting us through the floor and brought along Shamus Aghllsews a level 60 quest NPC. Being unprepared and still a little unorganized at the moment, they wiped us out. Once everyone was rezzed and rebuffed we zoned in, moved to the west wall and began clearing the mobs after the initial PoG (protectors of growth) attack. Once again we had better than expected loot: Galiel Swifthoof, dropped SK greaves, Grats Silasaza! rolling plains steed, dropped a WIZ bracer, that rotted before Lyshathin could join us :( spirit flux wolf, dropped WAR bracer, Grats Kagemushi! glade stalker, dropped BRD bracer, Grats Guruguru! Sarik the Fang, dropped MAG arms, Grats to Fyrefoxx for looting them before they rotted :) Grahl Strongback, dropped MNK arms, Grats Zanyx! sanguine kodiak, dropped ENC bracer, Grats Chamin! And finally another sanguine kodiak, dropped stonewood mail, Grats Laance! We also had 5 Blue Diamonds drop! Things had been going so well, we never saw the Tranquil Treant coming, he suddenly appeared in our camp as the pog's were spawning. The treant was still over 50% health when the pog's hit our camp and we suffered our second wipeout of the night before we could kill both the treant and pog's. Guru tried to keep the 2nd pog kited, but since he was injured he kept summoning her, then everyone else who tried to keep him away from the camp. With both clerics down, Harthin once again came to our rescue, Galiel did an admirable job keeping the remaining pog kited away from camp as everyone was rezzed. Finally, 35 minutes after they first hit camp, we finally were able to kill the remaining protector. We are still learning and expect to be back next week to wreck more havoc amongst the denizens of Tunares' plane. Thanks to everyone that particpated!

Plane of Growth - 14 Mar 2002 Shades of Light returned to the Plane of Growth with members of Wild Hunt and friends. We got a later than planned start (again) and formed 4 melee heavy groups. We easily cleared the portal area and southwest corner, moved to the west side of the lake, then set up camp across the river, near the north shore of the lake. We easily handled the tougher mobs here which included Feral Amalgams, Glade Stalkers, Thifling Sprites, and even the Serene Forest Spirits (level 60 mobs). We had a good rhythm going and everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves when all hell broke loose, a pull brought the Ancient Totem and a half dozen of his friends. The unmezzable mumbling totem men, vigilant convokers, and a spirit flux wolf all came together to help the Ancient Totem dismantle our party. We are still learning and expect to be back next week to wreck more havoc amongst the denizens of Tunares' plane.

Ancient Totem survived the encounter, more than most of us can say. A Mumbling Totem Man gets the last word. We had 3 armor drops this trip, ENC and MNK legs and WAR bracer, Grats to the winners! Plane of Growth - 7 Mar 2002 Shades of Light raided the Plane of Growth with help from some of our friends; Basn, Cdexterward, Sabrail, Teanie, Tinzu. We got a later than planned start, but cleared most of the west side of the river. We had a few deaths, and had to camp out once due to a Treant that gated and summoned (this required Brentar to make a run to buy a coffin). The Raid was a success overall, we got better than expected armor drops, 4 blue diamonds, alot of spells, and learned enough to ensure even greater successes in the future.

They respawn every 25 minutes and hit our camp every 27-28 minutes. We Killed Galiel!! Ixiblat Fer - 2 Mar 2002 Shades of Light with a large crowd of friends, many from Wild Hunt, gathered in Burning Woods to slay the huge elemental 'Ixiblat Fer' for his sceptre, needed for Morninglorys' Epic Quest. Ixiblat Fer is Huge! Ixiblat Fer is Dead! Thanks to everyone that particpated!
